Managing Reviews: Importing and Displaying Guest Reviews

Learn how to import and display guest reviews on your website.

Overview

Guest reviews build trust and boost your bookings! With CraftedStays, they're a breeze to show off—synced right from your PMS or added by hand, super easy.


How Reviews Sync from Your PMS

OwnerRez

Reviews sync automatically when marked as visible:

  1. In OwnerRez, go to a review

  2. Mark it as "Show" or enable for public display

  3. Reviews marked "show" will sync to CraftedStays

  4. Sync happens automatically or when you trigger manual sync

Hospitable

Reviews sync when available through Hospitable's API:

  1. Reviews from Airbnb/VRBO sync to Hospitable

  2. CraftedStays pulls these during property sync

Guesty

Reviews sync based on your Guesty settings:

  1. Configure review visibility in Guesty

  2. Reviews sync during property updates


Direct Booking Reviews

Other PMS Supports this.

For OwnerRez Users:

  1. Add the review manually in OwnerRez

  2. Mark it as "Show"

  3. It will sync to CraftedStays

Manage Reviews from PMS: Enabling or Disabling Reviews

  1. Log in to your CraftedStays dashboard.

  2. Navigate to the Properties panel.

  3. Click on Reviews.

  4. For PMS reviews, verify that they are syncing correctly by ensuring your PMS account contains updated reviews. (For OwnerRez users, check the configuration to ensure that reviews are marked as 'shared' or 'published'.)

  5. Click Edit then toggle Status and hit Update to save.

Manual Entry in CraftedStays:

If your PMS doesn't support it or you want to add reviews manually:

  1. Go to Properties in your dashboard

  2. Select a property

  3. Look for Reviews section

  4. Click "Add Review"

  5. Enter review details:

    • Guest name

    • Review text

    • Rating (1-5 stars)

    • Date

    • Toggle Status

  6. Click Create


Where Reviews Display

You can add reviews anywhere in your page by using the Reviews block in the editor.

Homepage Reviews Section

  • Shows recent reviews across all properties

  • Configurable number of reviews(some templates do not support this)

  • Rotates through reviews in a slider

Property Page Reviews

  • Shows reviews specific to that property

  • Appears in the Property Reviews section

  • Displays average rating


Review Display Settings

Homepage Reviews Section

In your template editor:

  1. Go to the Reviews section

  2. Configure:

  • Title: "Trusted by our guests" (or custom)

  • Reviews Count(if supported): Number to display (e.g., 10)

Property Page Reviews

In your template editor:

  1. Go to the Property Reviews section

  2. Configure:

  • Title: Section heading


Review Information Displayed

Each review shows:

  • Guest name (or anonymous)

  • Star rating (1-5)

  • Review text

  • Date

  • Property name (on homepage reviews)


Troubleshooting

Reviews not appearing on site

  1. Check that reviews are marked "show" in your PMS

  2. Sync the property: Properties > Property > Sync Now

  3. Verify the Reviews section is added to your page

  4. Check that property has reviews (not all properties may have them)

Missing reviews from Airbnb/VRBO

These come through your PMS:

  1. Check if reviews appear in your PMS

  2. PMS must sync reviews from the platform

  3. Some platforms limit API access to reviews

Reviews showing on wrong property

  1. Verify review is associated with correct property in PMS

  2. Re-sync the properties

Can't add manual reviews

  1. Go to the property, not the site settings

  2. Look for Reviews section within property edit

  3. Click "Add Review"


Best Practices

Responding to Reviews

Respond to reviews in your PMS platform (Airbnb, VRBO, etc.). Response management isn't handled in CraftedStays.

Curating Reviews

  • Only reviews marked "show" appear

  • Highlight your best reviews by ensuring they're visible

  • Add direct booking reviews manually

Review Volume

  • More reviews = more trust

  • Ask happy guests to leave reviews

  • Reviews from direct bookings count too
