It's highly recommended that you use your own custom domain with your site. This helps drive greater SEO and credibility with your potential guests.

To register your own customer domain follow the steps below.

Configure your domain on CraftedStays

  1. Go to the CraftedStays Dashboard > Site > Configure Site and Domain

  2. Enter your name under the Custom Domain section and select Register
    โ€‹

  3. You will receive an email within 24 hours with instructions on how to continue registration.

Configure your DNS Records

The email contains instructions on how to register the domain. Generally, you will need to log into your domain name registrar (like Godaddy, NameCheap, etc.) and enter new DNS records. These records have to be entered exactly as stated in the email.

  1. Log into your domain name registrar

  2. Find your name, and select configure DNS (or similar call-to-action)

  3. Add records listed in email. Generally you'll have 1 "TXT record", 4x "A records", 4x "AAAA records" and 1x "CNAME record".

    1. Here's an example of one of the A records being added:

    2. Notice the A in the Type field, @ in the Name field, and the IP address in the Value field

  4. Sometimes, you may have to remove existing A, AAAA, and CNAME records if the records have the same name.
For example, if you have an A record with the following information: type: A, name: @, and value 102.193.20.12, you'll need to remove it before proceeding.
This is common for A and CNAME records if you already have your website hosted by another provider.

Verify and wait for propagation

After you have completed the DNS changes, let us know you've completed the steps and wait for us to propagate the changes with your domain registrar.

  1. Once you have entered all the records, reply to the email that you have completed the steps.

  2. We will usually contact you within 12-24 hours to confirm your new domain has been registered.
